A shopper types their ZIP code and waits. And waits. Somewhere a carrier is slow to answer, and every second of that spinner is a second they think about leaving.
Live rates used to ask the carriers one after another, so the wait was all of them added together. In WP EasyCart 6.0 or greater, USPS, UPS, FedEx and Canada Post are asked at the same time. The cart waits for the slowest one, not the sum.
Ask together. Time out. Move on.
Every carrier request now has a limit: 5 seconds to connect, 10 seconds in all. A carrier that cannot be reached, turns the account down or has a server error is skipped for 5 minutes, so the cart does not trip over the same failure on every change. Save that carrier’s settings or pass a connection test and the pause lifts. Each pause is written to the logs, so you can see what happened.
It is also smarter about when to ask. Carriers with no details are left out, nothing is requested until the shopper has entered a destination, and the same cart to the same address reuses its quote for up to 30 minutes. Fewer calls, faster pages, the same real prices.
You set none of this. Turn your carriers on and the Live carrier rates card shows each one as Connected or Not connected, right above the services your shoppers see. Live rates sit alongside payments, tax and documents in the same plugin. No shipping add-on.
